Reflecting God’s Image in a Hurting World

From the very beginning, we were made for love. Genesis 1:27 tells us that we are created in God’s image, and 1 John 4:8 reminds us that “God is love.” That means love isn’t just something we do.. it’s who we are meant to be!

God’s love is unconditional, sacrificial, and life-giving. As His image-bearers, we are called to reflect that love to the world around us. But in a world filled with hurt, selfishness, and division, how do we truly love like God?

Here are 5 ways that we can love like God loves us..

1️⃣Love Without Conditions
God doesn’t love us based on what we do, He loves us because of who He is. Show love to others, even when it’s undeserved or unreturned (I know, I know.. a tough one but you can do it!). Forgive freely, extend grace, and love without expecting anything in return.

2️⃣ Put Others First
In John 15:13 we read how Jesus modeled selfless love when He laid down His life for us. Love others by serving them, putting their needs ahead of your own, and seeking their well-being above personal gain.

3️⃣ Speak Life
Our words have power. God’s love builds up, encourages, and restores. Speak kindness, truth, and hope into the lives of others. A simple word of encouragement can change someone’s entire day.

4️⃣ Be Present
Jesus didn’t just preach love, He lived it by being fully present with those who needed Him. Love others by truly listening, showing up in their struggles, and offering your time, even when it's inconvenient.

5️⃣ Love Even When It’s Hard
Loving like God means loving even when it’s difficult.. when people hurt us, disappoint us, or don’t love us back. God’s love is relentless, and He calls us to love even our enemies (Luke 6:27).

Be the Difference

The world desperately needs God’s love, and He has chosen us to share it. When we love like Him, we become the difference in someone’s life, pointing them to the One who loves perfectly.
